New Music Building
The Mississippi State University Department of Music new Music Building will be located along the east side of Hardy Road south of the new engineering building near the intersection to Blackjack Road. The Department of Music will move from its current location spread across four buildings into the $21-million, 37,000-square-foot building, which will be strategically connected to the existing band and choral rehearsal building.

Recitals to Recording
The recital hall will be the crown jewel of the new building, supporting the numerous vocal and instrumental chamber ensembles, and doubles as a lecture space. The stage accommodates 20 to 25 seated musicians and 40 to 50 singers. The facility also will include typical music classrooms, teaching studios, practice rooms, faculty offices, and percussion and choral suites. A recording studio will facilitate the recording of concerts in the recital hall and will also serve as an instructional space. Connectivity to large classrooms and to a future 1,000-seat concert hall (not part of this project) is desired.
